Television

One of my pet peeves is when someone declares, "I don't watch television" like they are holier than though and instantly smarter than anyone who does watch it. Sometimes these people are still normal and they just spend their time doing other things. Often, though, this person has no clue about pop culture and can't hold a conversation with half the people they encounter.

I also get annoyed when someone says they don't watch TV, but he/she watches three movies a day. How is that any different?

Or hulu. If you watch television shows online, you still watch TV. It's a television show. You're just watching it on a different screen.

I have my TV on most of the time when I am home, but you know what? I multitask. Rarely am I sitting here just staring at the screen*. I like the noise and the connection to the outside world.

SO yeah, that's a pet peeve of mine.

Rain Song

It poured today. The rain often reminds me of when I was a lifeguard because, to a lifeguard, you're always excited for a good storm. I used to be the best at spotting storm clouds in the distance and we would just wait for it to roll in and we would all keep our eyes pealed for lightning and our ears were on alert for thunder. The disappointment when a storm would pass by was high. As long as we were on a thunder or lightning then our jobs were so easy and usually the families would leave and we would get paid to hang out.

That's what rain reminds me of.

There were some days when it would storm and the swimmers would all leave and we would just hang out and read all day. We would set up the chaise lounges, cover up with beach towels, and read books and magazines for hours. I LOVED those days. One of us (usually me) was always on alert, though, for a patron or, even worse, a board member, but we usually could hear the cars coming down the gravel road and we'd jump up and pretend to be cleaning something. I worked my ass off at that job otherwise, though, so I figured some rest was okay every once and awhile.

Television

These are the shows I'm trying to keep up with this season:
  • Dexter- Just watched the season premiere. Am beyond excited to finally have Showtime!
  • Californication- I've only seen a couple from Season One, so I still need to watch those at a friend's, but this show is raunchy and awesome.
  • Fringe- Love Pacey and JJ Abrams. I'm already behind, though, as I haven't watched this week's episode.
  • The Hills- Duh!
  • Mad Men- I love this show, but I'm behind on it, too.
  • The Amazing Race- It's never been as good as when Rob and Amber competed.
  • 90210- Eh, it kinda sucks. I want to like it, but the girls on it are SO annoying. We'll see if I keep watching.
  • Gossip Girl- Chuck and Blair are the new Seth and Summer.
  • True Blood- But only if my TiVo gets smart enough to tape the repeats that come on when Dexter is not on.
  • America's Next Top Model- Especially now that stupid Isis is gone. Smile with your eyes.
  • Greys Anatomy- It was good the other night. I liked that military guy. He was fun.
There's no way I'll keep up with all of these shows. No way.

100 Million

I just bought a lottery ticket. This is what I will do if when I win:

  1. Scream
  2. Call Ali.
  3. Call everyone else.
  4. Pick out my outfit for when the news will want to interview me. Something inspired by my recent fashion magazine reading.
  5. Try to decide if I will quit my job immediately.
  6. Decide that even though I am a millionaire, I will still want the discount at least for awhile.
  7. Go to sleep? I'll want to be rested for a big Wednesday.
  8. Once it's Wednesday, I'll get Starbucks and not worry about it being a $5 cup of joe. (quad venti, biatch.)
  9. I'm a little unsure about when I'll actually get the money. Can I start ordering from JCrew immediately?
  10. I will start to plan the trip to Scotland that Ali and I will be taking asap.
  11. I'll go buy a new XM player since someone (grr) broke the cord on my current one.
  12. I'll buy a ticket to San Fran for when Serena's there just because I can. It'll be like, "Hey, Serena. I'm in CA. Let's do lunch!"
  13. I think I'll buy a ticket to Toronto;) Hey, why not? I've always wanted to go there.
  14. I'll probably then have to do lots of interviews and stuff. It's tough being so popular.
So yeah, what fun! I can't wait to win.
