2/4

To watch 24 or to not watch 24. You all know the question.

PROS:
  • It's a good show. I watched the first season and enjoyed it.
  • I'll know what everyone is talking about the next day.
  • A few of my faves are no more (or will soon be no more): Alias, The OC, etc.

CONS:
  • It requires my attention. It's not a show I can multitask during.
  • I'm going to get sucked in and will have to watch it every week.
  • It's the type of show I want to "figure out" like Alias and Lost, but I don't have time to read summaries online and rewatch episodes for clues. (Not that I do that. Seriously. I only rewatch Gilmore Girls each week:)

So should I watch?

Difficult question that I am already pondering. My 3 faves by a long shot are LOST, Nip/Tuck & Heroes. I don't know that I can take on another show that I can't miss...plus its a GREAT show (24) but a little too much action for me...I prefer a bit more drama & sci fi...I'm a nerd, I know. :P

I know...and it's a lot to take on. It's not one that can be missed from time to time.

And nerds are cool, so that's ok.

So as an update, I've been TiVoing it, but have been watching some here at the end and dammit, I'm going to want to watch it all now! I think it's that I love Keifer Sutherland.

Don't worry about the "figuring out." I love the show, but it's not big on subtlety.

One of my favorite things about it is that it got kinda crappy ratings its first couple seasons, but they stuck with it and now it's blown up. Gives hope, since most of my other favorite shows are low-rated.

Yeah, but if I try to read a magazine while watching it, I end up not knowing who anyone is.

24 does require some serious commitment- but that's really the only way to watch it. Magazine reading and answering the phone are simply not options.

You will also turn into a huge 24 nerd. I started yelling "Where. Is. The. Juice!!!" at my friends, rather than using a regular tone of voice and form of questioning. Sometimes I pointed a fake gun at their head, Jack style.

Then again, that may only happen to me.

Did you end up watching it?

I Tivoed it. But I forgot to TiVo tonights so I might get that DVD their releasing or something from Netflix to catch up.

Watch it. Watch it. Watch it. Watch it. Watch it. Watch it. Watch it. Watch it. Watch it. Watch it. Watch it. Watch it. Watch it.

It's brilliant.

You can't not.

You know how I feel. A couple of comments - 24 is like a pulp novel, there's really not a lot to figure out - like Lost or Heroes. But it does require your attention. At the end of the season though - all that loyalty is rewarded - unlike other shows, every question is answered - and the cliff hanger generally has no bearing on the story just told.

Watch it.

So did you watch?

I already am behind. I don't like the pressure of having to watch them all. Sometimes I like to miss a show here and there of my favorites bc then I feel better about buying them on DVD:)

i take my tv very seriously, like i know you do... somehow i never got into 24. i've never seen a single episode, even though i love keifer and it looks great. i don't know, people tell me all the time i should be watching but i'm trying to cut down, not add more. i bet it's a lot harder to quit a good show, though, than it is to just avoid it.
