A word of advice from a former teacher (and this is a mistake I made my first year...) Start off the year really strict and mean with the kids. You can always get nicer as the time goes by. But it's completely impossible to go from too nice to more strict.
Trust me....you're going to love it.

CBK- I have fond memories, too. Well, mostly. I remember being called into the office bc my friend accused the teacher of being inappropriate with her. Weirdo. And I remember the normal alto sax player hassling me bc I got to play his part for the winter concert because he was a Jehovah's Witness. haha, but mostly good memories:)
