You know what I'm bad at (don't really answer): updating this blog.
You know what I'm good at (and I'm not talking about what's written in the mens' bathroom): lists.
+ Two weekends ago we went Cabining for Serena's birthday. Except for the unwanted early wake up time, it was better than I expected. And I only say that because close quarters are sometimes not ideal. It worked out, though, and I would venture to say that Serena had a good time, which is most important.
+ This past weekend ended up being great even though it began with no plans at all. Friday night Ali and I hit up Happy Hour (*love*) and were later joined by Brendan and then Serena. I pounded five beers and then we changed location where I had one more. Love me some beer. I had to work the next morning, but really, what's a Saturday shift at work when I am not exhausted?
+ After work I uploaded pictures while waiting to leave for the Wine Party that Nina and Patty were having. The party was so much fun! I love how we started out the evening feeling like adults while discussing the wine and ended with Randi schooling us all on Janet vs Michael Jackson dance moves. Somehow I managed to stay awake until the wee hours of the morning to fully maximize my awesome Saturday night.
+ Sunday was the day I had been looking forward to: my day off. I slept in, shopped a little, relaxed, and then dozed off and on until the game started. I can't believe the Redskins didn't win. I also can't believe the commentator made an opera reference.
+ What else is going on...let' see...Tomorrow we're having sectionals in orchestra and I have not played for two weeks. I usually have very good luck with killing it when I need to, but this time is a little different as my part is beyond difficult because I don't have an A clarinet and don't know anyone who has one for me to borrow.
+ At the moment I am trying to find the perfect picture of me with bangs in order to email a friend to get his opinion. My hair is super long right now and my bangs are about to chin level, but I miss them. What do you think? Just kidding, not that one...how about this one? Ok now for real: what do you think?
+ The last CDs I have purchased are: Kings Of Leon, Eagles Of Death Metal, Goldfrapp, Mark Lanegan, Travis, and Snow Patrol. Given to me were Black Angels and Gutter Twins. #1 on the new Kings Of Leon is amazing.
+ I love that it's finally getting cold out.

House A Home
Wow...so a list? Yes.
+ Friday night I went to a happy hour with Ali and Nathaniel, which was fun. I got proposed to by some random guy. I wasn't even drunk (I swear!). Ali and I kept saying to Nathaniel, "See! See what it's like to be a girl!?" It was fun.
+Saturday I worked and then had to decide what to do. I hate decision time because what I want to do is go home, relax, change, and then see what is going on. But my living location does not allow for that unfortunately. I ended up going to my college homecoming, which turned out to be a lot of fun.
+Yesterday I worked late because we had inventory, but I worked with my Brosephs so it was a good time. We acted like we were 12 and made up funny names like Jack Doff.
+Today I went with my sister to the doctor where she emerged with a wrist brace and instruction to also wrap up her ankle. Poor thing...I told her she looked like she got in a fight ("but you should see the other guy").
+After the doctor we got lunchtime margaritas and fajitas at El Agave in Warrenton.

Everybody Knows That You Are Insane
I went to a friend's party on Saturday and, while I had a lot of fun, I left the evening being completely sick of the following two questions:
1) Are you two dating?
and
2) What happened with you and whatsherface?
I guess it's good to set things straight and dispel incorrect rumors, but after telling the same stories over and over, I start to get bored with them. Question #1 is easy. Basically it's no one's business and if anyone knows me at all, they'll know not to ask me in front of a large group. Question #2 is more difficult if only because it is so old and I am done explaining it. Or explaining what I can. I think at this point I might just make stuff up. People want to hear something salacious anyway and I'm here for the people, right? Haha. Or, what also works is letting people fill in the gaps with their own guesses since 9 times out of 10, they're right, and, if they're not, I can always correct them, right?

A-OK
Having to get up at 430am yesterday after a weekend of minimal sleep was beyond difficult. After a blurred work day, I got home at about 430pm and proceeded to pass out until 8. Now, I rarely take naps so this was completely foreign to me. And to then be able to fall asleep again later for a full night's sleep? Wow. This was one tired girl.
So yes, the weekend was a success. I entered it cautiously optimistic, but a little apprehensive about how we would all work together. We had a majority rule set in place to cut down on opinionated fights, but we didn't need to use it very many times and even then it wasn't a big deal. My biggest moment of needing to take a deep breath occurred Friday night/Saturday morning at about 5am when I was the only one trying to sleep and everyone else was laughing at what felt like cruel levels to my exhausted ears. I didn't say anything, though, since I was in the minority for wanting to sleep. And it worked out since the next night everyone was so tired they slept completely soundly, which allowed for everyone to get some much needed rest.
I'm proud and excited for the mini film we created! It cracks me up everytime I see it and I just hope it has the same effect on Saturday when it is screened at the Byrd Theatre on Cary St. in Richmond, VA. That said, I hope anyone in the area, or not in the area, comes at 330pm to see:
Heroic Solutions: A Superhero Training Module, Level 1
more info to come...

Crestfallen
And the ol' alarm is set for 5am. Why am I awake? I was walking into my house and texted Serena, "I'm going straight to sleep. Not even checking email" and where am I now? Blogging!? Why??
It was a fun, randomly eventful night with Serena after work. I am not a rested girl, so the fact that it's pushing 130am and I'm up is beyond me. I want to be asleep, but I'm not.
Okay, it's time to shut the laptop and hit the hay.

Neighborhood #3 (Power Out)
I have a long day ahead of me: Work 7-330 and then off to Richmond for a little bit of this and a little bit of that. But all is good for Team Scarlet as I've got my boos working with me and a fun evening planned:)
Hope everyone has a grand Saturday!

The Drinking Eye
It was about a month ago that Brendan and I were lamenting the fact that no one had a birthday come up since that is usually our reason for having a party. Well, fast forward a month later and the genius "Birthday Party For Everybody" was finally upon us and we were all at Ravena's with a keg of Yuengling. And not only was it everyone's birthday, but it was everyone's 21st birthday!
Now, my 21st year on this earth was a ton of fun and it involved a lot of beer, so getting this keg brought back a flood of memories for me. With memories did not come good judgement, however, and not soon after the party started, I was doing a kegstand. Hey, someone had to get them started, right? And we had some participants who had never done one and as a good friend, I want to help my boos get important life experiences.
My only complaint about the party is that it was a total cooter fest and not just of normal chicks, but a bunch of chicks who like to flirt. A lot. So when the ratio of girls to guys is incredibly unbalanced, it becomes like heaven for the guys and kind of annoying for the girls. I'm not really complaining, even though I miss being friends with mainly guys*, but guys bring a different dynamic. Here is one of the lucky guys: *blogger won't let me put the picture here, so click on this link*
The other interesting thing about the evening was that it flew by! We started wicked early and then all of a sudden it was time to go home. I guess that means we had fun?

I have a lot to update on as it's been a fun-filled weekend. But with fun-filled weekends come very tired Scarlets so the update will have to wait until probably tomorrow night.

Carolina
I am back from North Carolina with some sun, exhaustion, bruised feet, about 600 photos, and tons of stories. Earlier today (and I do mean EARLY), I had some trouble speaking. The lack of sleep caught up with me and my sentences went something like this: "Let's stop anushirahbuyaram in Virginia." So, needless to say, I am quite tired and I just don't think I can do an appropriate weekend recap right now.
Chapel!

The Last Laugh of The Laughters
Happy Easter! I'll be at work all day. It feels like the end of the week for me, which I am thankful for. With tomorrow, I consider it a new week, and one that will be good...no matter what.
Not much else to report on so I hope everyone has a wonderful day:)

The Finish Line
Whew, I am tired. This past week was supposed to be my spring break*, but I ended up being busier than ever with work and the musical I played in. We had rehearsals every night of the week and then performances Friday and Saturday nights and this afternoon.
I'm afraid I don't have anything exciting to report just yet....give me a day or so;)
SO,
SVR
*yeah yeah, I only have two classes-shut up.

Hoes, Money, And Clout
While the morning part of my day is beginning about as poorly as it could...Seriously, does every bill and payment have to hit at once??...the evening portion of the day is sure to be quite swell. Because of *BIRTHDAY SECRETS* I cannot divulge my plans, but rest assurred, it will be fun, hilarious, exciting, and I will come back with a lot of pictures.
I am also looking forward to the weekend as I actually do not work either day. This actually hasn't happened for months so it's an occasion to cherish. Sure, Sunday will be spent in a double run-thru of the musical I'm playing in, but at least it's not work, eh?
Be good today and this weekend, boos.
XO,
SVR
P.S. Yes, the photo contest pictures were due yesterday, but since I obviously am not going to be able to work on it today, feel free to enter today. And tomorrow and hell, even the next day. I won't be doing much without high speed this weekend, ya know?

I Could Stay Away Forever
Friday night was a complete mystery to me. I was told to leave work at 630pm and head to my sister's apartment. Ali had told me to wear layers. She said I should wear leggings with pull away athletic pants and shirts that would easily allow me to put a harness on. She's a kidder, that one. Ali took me to the secret destination (Plan B) with only one near death experience involving a flying sheet of ice for some much needed grub and beer and PRESENTS where we had a grand ol' time that included honey mustard, people singing to me, amazing cupcakes, and the following people: Ali, Serena, Steven, Allie, Ravena, and Phil.
Then, my amazing group of boos took me to another secret destination. We were in two cars, with me and Steven in one and everyone else in the other, and I was quite confused by then. We started heading south and eventually ended up in a random neighborhood. I was racking my brain trying to think of who might live back there and why, if there was a party, my sister couldn't come with us? (She can't go to bars until 20 December 2007, guys.) But then Brendan came out and got in the other car and I realized that we were picking him up-ahhhh, made more sense then. A wee bit later we were in Arlington, parked on sheets of ice and waiting to get into that bar I can never remember the name of, but is the one we got kicked out of once.
The bar was fun, as bars tend to be. Serena, Allie and I tried to figure out our "moves" while trying them out on poor* Brendan. I would give more details on this portion of the evening, but divulging moves is like losing the playbook before the big game. Steven was the king of boos that night and the next day as he patiently let me flirt with him and gave us rides to all of our destinations. Another interesting part of Friday night was meeting some guy named Rhett and having the following exchange: "Is that really your name?" "Yes, why!?" "My name is Rhett." "WHOA! PROVE IT!" and he did. And it was. That always freaks me out.
About two or three hours after we got back to Steven's apartment, we got up again to make it to DC to catch the bus to NYC. Ahhh, New York, how I love thee. Dozing on the bus ride was a good plan as we hit the streets running. Roughly 30 hours in the city gives a mere slice of what is offered. Basically we spent our time eating, drinking, and being merry. (See Serena's post for some more details.) I, too, held back from buying an amazing bag from LeSportsac and I actually was surprised I did manage to "just say no"** since, "It's my birthday" is the perfect reason to buy an expensive bag. The thing I love about NYC is the walking and what you see along the way. Mostly this weekend that involved dogs. Was it a citywide plan to take every dog on a walk between the hours of 1-9pm on Saturday? Well, thank you, NY, I do love puppies:)
After recuperating in the phat apartment Ravena scored for us, we headed back out to properly celebrate the fact that I was turning 27. I guess for me, the proper way to celebrate anything is with booze, hott guys, and A LOT of flirting. (Although, to be honest, except for the booze, that's how I spend many of my days:) The bar we chose did not disappoint and was so good we ended up staying there the entire night. The company we had didn't hurt in the least, though. At one point it was the four of us smack dab in the middle of a sausage fest with our expats*** on one side, and what seemed like the entire Air Force on the other side. With so much to relay from the evening, I don't even know where to start. I can't repeat half the things whispered into my ear that night, but I will never say "double fisting" again and might have to start calling certain articles of clothing "jumpers." I have also decided that the second I get my passport and have enough money for one of those random cheap flights, I am on my way to London. Or anywhere in the UK really.
So all in all, it was an amazing birthday and a gazillion thanks to my friends, family, and random strangers who helped make it so great.
XO,
SVR
*Ha, maybe if 'poor' means 'lucky' now.

I Still Remember
If your birthday is February 17th:
You surround yourself with people who see a superstar spark in you. This is what helps you exponentially grow your talent through this year. Love blossoms in march, when you're so hard at work you barely notice at first. April's financial boost isn't to be wasted. Invest in yourself and your skills. A Libra or Taurus person's affection uplifts you.
All Libras and Tauruses (sp?) should just queue* up now, thank you. Please bring gum. Making out will ensue.
I had an awesome birthday weekend thanks to some amazing boos, but since I was out of town for my actual day, the celebrating is soooo not over. I don't even know where to start with my retelling of the events so far. It has been a whirlwind few days of eating, drinking, flirting, walking, and aging and it has left me completely exhausted. Let me get a good night's sleep and I'll be back in the am with a proper post on my birthday!
XO,

Happy Birthday
I'm going radio silent until probably Monday as I have a FULLLLLLL and exciting weekend planned for my BIRTHDAY! Today I work 10-630 and then head off to something that I do not know about (thanks to the boos, although I don't know yet what I'm thanking you for.)
And tomorrow...omg....tomorrow we head to NYC!!!!!!! A full day in the city when it's my birthday? Paris Hilton, watch out. The city is MINE tomorrow.
*Tomorrow is also Paris Hilton's birthday.

What Goes Around
Giving Mary J. Blige Grammys is just going to encourage her to make more bad music.
So my weekend is winding up and, I have to say, it was quite successful. Not successful in a "I made out with [fill in the blank], but definitely successful in many other ways.
The date with Phil was very good. I definitely showed a small percentage of DC my dance moves, which is always a terrifying thought after the fact, but I had a good time and that is all that matters. I also had wine, rum and coke, and vodka/redbull all of which contributed to the evening. I don't want to say I'm shy, but I am. As much as I flirt and talk to people, I am a core of shyness. There will always be the four-year-old Scarlet in there who slid under the table at her birthday* party when the waiters came out singing "Happy Birthday." So put me in a fun situation with a few drinks in me and watch out;) (I feel the need to clarify that I don't need drinks to have a good time...at all.) But it's weird to go on a double date minus the second guy. It's not like we were in competition a la Elimidate** at all, but I think we both wanted to make sure the evening was fun, relaxed, and enjoyable for both us and our date.
Saturday was a LONG day. I guess I got promoted at work, but it's still weird and I don't really know what it means so I'm not talking about it (remember how I said I'm shy? Yeah, that.) I also got to meet the Post Secret guy, Frank Warren, when he came into the bookstore to sign our entire stock of his books. That was pretty cool. I helped to get him set up and got him a latte. (Skim- good guy.) Saturday NIGHT was amazing. Ali, Serena, Steven, Allie, and I headed to Mousetrap at the Black Cat for an evening of mainly dancing. Lots of other stuff occurred, but I encourage you to check Allie's blog for the complete list. Mousetrap brings back so many memories for me. We used to go every week back in college (omg, over 5 years ago!) and even though I hate to be 'that girl' I can't help but get excited when my favorite songs come on and then I sing them and dance to them and just have a grand old time. My favorite dances include:
+Verbing (Someone yells out a verb-hence the name, and you act it out to the beat. "Shovel the snow!" "Bake!" "Swim!" etc.)
+Soul Train (This is tough is people are drunk and don't want to form two lines, but if they'll participate, you form two lines and take turns dancing down the middle.)
+The ????? (What is the name of those things where you push the bottom and they collapse? Because that is what this dance would be call. It's awesome and we made it up last night.)
+The Glass Wall (Two people dance in front of each other and pretend a glass wall is between them.)
+The Statue (The guy just stands there while two (or more?) girls dance around him. No touching.)
+The Klagges (Only Ali and I can do this one because it involves us performing dance routines from our youth. Mrs. Klagges was our dance teacher. *Jazz hands!*)
And today was my concert. It went well, save for the one guy who said something incredibly rude to me and almost made me cry. Luckily, I calmed myself down and reminded myself that I am better than him and anything he says does not matter. Also, when later calmed down my sister helped me to realize what he must have meant. I still hate him, though, and he is now dead to me.
That is all.
XO,
SVR
P.S. Why does Mr. JT's "What Goes Around" have me completely obsessed? (But why is he playing on an up-right? That seems odd. He deserves a grand piano! With me on it...)
*Speaking of birthdays, mine is in 6 days. The 17th!
**The thought did cross our minds to bring "TimeOut" cards, though.

One By One All Day
I have a full weekend ahead of me, and for my own mind's sake of keeping it all straight, I am going to have to list it here:
Friday:
+Wake up before breakfast.
+Do a lot of laundry and e-flirting.
+4ish- leave for BN where I will get a white mocha and try to ask about hours. Probably will flirt with people. (Most likely coworkers.)
+6ish- Leave with Allie to go to DC to meet up with our date, Phil. Yes, two girls and one guy and no, do not get the wrong idea. It's going to be a blast, of course, but it's for charity, hence the two of us.
Saturday:
+930am- Orchestra dress rehearsal until 1230pm. This has the potential to suck as we have never played Pictures at an Exhibition all the way through before.
+1230pm- Race off for work. I'm supposed to BE there at noon, oops!
+1ish- 830pm- Work.
+830pm- Leave work with Serena and head to Ali's to change, get hott, and eat fast food.
+930ish- Head to DC for Mousetrap at The Black Cat. (You should go! Look for me, I'll be the brunette wearing black. Oh wait...me and every other girl there;) I love Mousetrap and hope there are plenty of people to interact with. Or to "interact" with if youknowwhatI'msayin'!
+Sometime in the AM- Head back to Ali's. She's letting me stay there.
Sunday:
1pm- Orchestra call time.
3pm- Concert.
6pm- Home to collapse from exhaustion.
I am happy and grateful for a very full weekend:) It's fitting, too, since today marks my self-made start to the BIRTHDAY CELEBRATING!!!!!!!!!!! A week from today is the day before my birthday. I am so excited.

Paper Bag
I'm not working today and, instead of telling you why, which would turn into a long, expletive-filled bitch fest, I am instead going to talk about my weekend*.
Friday in the wee hours of the morning, Allie, Serena, and I headed north to Philadelphia to begin the celebration of her turning 23. And because narrative will put you all to sleep I will now, in list form, tell you what we did:
+We ate.
+We drank.
+We walked.
+We laughed.
+We took pictures.
Saturday, after working all day, the group headed to Hard Times in Herndon for what turned out to be an awesome happy hour where I had 4 beers for $4. Granted, one was poured by mistake and I got it for free and another one was purchased for me because I'm so pretty, but at at rate of $1 per beer, that's a steal I will not say no to. Plus, after two I wouldn't have said no to much. I kid, I'm a kidder. Do you really think I'd be drunk after two beers? At about 1030pm, we parted ways with those under 21 and headed even farther north to the Wonderland Ballroom in DC. I don't think any of us had ever been and the last time we passed by it didn't look too crowded. Well, Saturday night it was overflowing with people! I had a good time there (4 beers plus some probably helped) where I learned how to dance like Elvis and warned people about the vomit on the stair railing.
The weekend left me seriously exhausted though since it was like going out mid week for me since I don't have Saturdays and Sundays off. It was worth it, though. And please go look at my pictures...and leave comments.

*Do you like how many commas I used in that sentence? Wow. Comma whore. And probably a stupid comma whore.
