Fakey Fake

I had a roommate in college who wore the most insanely padded push up bras. She would always lay out her clothes for the day ahead and at first I would wonder what small person was hiding under her clothes until I realized it was her bra making the enormous bumps. And she was a pretty petite person.

What I could never comprehend was what happened when she got it on with her boyfriend...and let me tell you, I know first-freaking-hand that they got it on a lot. Hold on while I cry from the memory of waking up to the sounds of them having sex. So all day long her boyfriend is thinking, "YEAH! My girl has huge tits! I'm the luckiest guy in the world!" and then hanky panky time would come around and she'd take off her bra and he would feel like he had vertigo because he couldn't find what he had just seen.

Please explain.

Holly Madison, from Holly's World, was saying that she used to stuff her bra (pre implants, of course), but it backfired because she got a boyfriend and she couldn't let him touch her boobs for months because she had to slowly stuff her bra less and less.

This thought/memory came to me earlier today because I was thinking about how much I loathe summer. I always feel gorgeous in the winter, but in the summer it sure is hit or miss. How can sweating be pretty? How is frizzy hair nice? I feel like summer is my padded push up bra. It's not the real me.

Favorite Things

I think 99.99% of people are wishing for spring to get here. I understand that people get sick of the snow. Yes, it interrupts plans and closes jobs, but hi, it's winter so it's to be expected. And it's so pretty!


Personally, I love for it to be cold. I like for the air to feel fresh and energizing...I like to wear scarves and sweaters...I like to straighten my hair and for it to stay that way.

Serena today, though, posted about what she is looking forward to in the upcoming months*. I will probably never wish for Spring to be here sooner**, but I have vowed to try to be positive about the warmer months.

So, the following are some things I like that happen to occur when it's warmer. This is no way means I do not love winter with all of my February-born heart.

Flowers:
Flowers are pretty and always fun to photograph. I will not think about their pollen, which makes me miserable.



Blue Skies:
I'm actually not one of those people who gets down when the sun hasn't been seen for awhile, but I can't deny that a crystal clear sky is gorgeous.


Water:
A lot of times, water in the winter is frozen. Or, since this is not Minnesota, the thought of water just makes a person cold. But I do love being around water. Beach or pool preferably, but Crockett Park has a special spot in my heart:


Beach:
I LOVE THE BEACH! I love the beach so much I think I could live there. I know, I know. It makes no sense. The thing about the beach, though, is that when it's cold here, you can vacation to the beach. It's no fun when it's 95 degrees and there is no ocean around. Why would you want it to be 95 degrees as you go to work? Yuck! Oh wait, I'm supposed to be positive here. So, I love the beach:


Rain:
I love the type of rain that makes a summer day chilly.
(You know, so I can heat it back up?)

Pools:
One of my favorite smells in the world is chlorine. Pools make the summer hear bearable.


So, that's all I can think of right now...but until it warms up (ugh), enjoy the chills, sweaters, scarves, jeans, socks, fires, cold noses, and...most exciting of all...MY BIRTHDAY IN ONE WEEEEEK!

The Coming Of Spring

Everyone keeps saying how "nice this weather is" and it's starting to really irk me. I don't comprehend enjoying unseasonable warmth in the middle of winter. I can see how people enjoy spring, but I do not. I hate sneezing and I hate pastels. Loving temps approaching 100 seems insane to me (unless you're at the beach or pool). I am a hardcore winter girl. Fall is my favorite because it's so pretty, but it's never cold enough when the leaves are changing.

Even though we have many more weeks of cold weather (OR AT LEAST WE BETTER), you warm-weather lovers have me upset already about spring approaching. Like how some people get the winter blues, I get upset when the weather starts to warm up. So, because of this, I have enacted a Birthday* Rule:


There will be no mention of spring until after my birthday week.

Cold Winter

I'm freezing.

This is not a complaint.




I hope we get snow soon and that it stays cold until June and then we get a month or two of weather in the 70s and then it's cold again.

Racing Like A Pro

I haven't really blogged in awhile. I don't even have the crappy laptop/internet excuse anymore. I guess it's because lately life has been super busy and I kept thinking I needed to get everything into a nice, neat paragraph when really I should have done bullets all along. In list form is always better...

• Someone at work the other day said we should have a "Women's History Month" display. I refrained from asking when Men's History Month is for fear of the typical "that's every month" response, but I did accidentally say out loud, "just don't put any feminist books on there." Well, one of the older women sort of freaked out and it was too early in the morning to explain what I meant. I just think it's a fall back to put up Betty Friedan books when a better display would involve books and works by really good authors who just happen to be female. AND the display should have cookbooks, and the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue, and books about chicks doing things typically thought to be for males only. Wouldn't that be a better display?
• I am going to try to be more positive about spring. I still love winter above any other season, but since I am in the minority, I am going to try to find things to be okay with these warmer months. One thing I can't put up with are allergies, which is the main reason I don't like spring. But I do know I am one of the few who get more energized when it is cold and dreary out so I look forward* to it warming up because everyone will be getting out of their winter hibernation moods.

• So the Oscars are on tomorrow. I just hope No Country For Old Men and Javier B. win.

Hazy Shade Of Winter

I am a hard core Blue Moon fan. I get annoyed when there is no orange. My second choice is usually Yuengling or sometimes Heifewiesen. The only beers I will never drink are Guiness and the Scottish one that tastes like food. However, I tend to get Blue Moon or Yuengling. The other day though, probably while watching The Hills, I saw the commercial for Samuel Adams Winter Lager. I am quite familiar with the Sam Adams beers since those are what my guy boos tend to drink the most...and I, of course, always take a sip or two.

Anyway, this commercial. Is. A. Winner. It totally worked in its efforts to make me want to try this new beer. It describes the beer as if it is an extension of winter and if there's one thing I love, it's winter! Check out this description from their website:

Don't Panic

I'm a little worried about some of you.

The temperature barely went below 50 degrees Fahrenheit today and from the looks of your outerwear, I would have guessed we were in the middle of a blizzard. Seeing as how I had been inside since 11am, I figured that in the 8 hours I was at work, a cold front must have come in.

But no. Apparently the amount of North Face I saw today was not a clear indication of the weather. When I saw Serena at 630pm I asked her, with an excited look in my eyes, if it was finally cold out. She burst my winter-loving bubble and told me that she had not even needed a scarf for her walk to work.

I am happier than anyone that it is November. I love this month as it is the true beginning of cold weather and "The Holidays". It puts me in a good mood merely to write "November" as the date. But people, it's not November Cold yet. It's not even close.

I have yet to wear a real coat. I haven't worn a sweater yet and not been too warm at some point in the day. It hasn't even crossed my mind yet to wear gloves. Hats? Not yet.

Which is why I am worried about you guys out there in your huge winter coats. If you are this cold now, you are going to die when it's actually below freezing.

A Warm Place

I only have time for a complaint today:


Why do establishments insist on keeping their buildings so warm during the winter? This makes no sense to me. Winter is cold, yes. That is why we wear sweaters and coats and scarves. To make it so warm that a sweater makes me hot is not how it should be. Lately, when I have been getting dressed to go to work I have found myself considering outfits I would normally wear in the spring. (Hold on...*vomit*) We shouldn't be using the heat to allow us to wear short-sleeved shirts and such. We should be dressing warmer. Do we all try to wear sweatshirts in the summer and make buildings freezers? No, we don't. Get with it, people. Put on a sweater and turn the heat down.

Silent Spring

I know this doesn't mean much, but even teasing about Spring coming sooner makes me want to scream. I loathe spring and think it's the most disgusting time of the year. Full of warmth and humidity and pollen. And pastels. I detest pastels. Even though summer is far warmer, at least it has the feel of vacation to it and I can kick it back mentally to being a kid with no school for three months.

So damn you, Punxsutawney Phil for not seeing your shadow and bringing joy to the freaks out there who don't enjoy winter. But I'll have the last laugh, PP, as I preduct a March Blizzard and frigid temps at least through April. (Ok ok....I'm trying, ok?)
